The Department of School Education of the state Government of Tamil Nadu has arranged for all textbooks to reach all schools before 22nd June.
The School Education Department has emphasized the need for the necessary precaution to be taken by the Education Officers for this activity. The Director Kannappan has released a notification in this regard:
“Arrangements have been made for the distribution of free textbooks for the students studying in government or government-aided schools from 1st Standard to 12th Standard. At the same time, the textbooks are to be taken from the godowns and to be distributed to all schools from 22nd June.
He has asked that this task of distribution of free textbooks for all classes must be completed before 30th June.
He has mentioned that over 2 crores of free textbooks are to be distributed throughout Tamil Nadu.
The Headmasters must check and verify whether the quantity given to them by the District Education Officers are as per their requirements.
In case of any shortage, it must be immediately informed o the District Education Officer and receive the same before the schools reopen.
The Directorate of School Education will provide the funds for expenditure on transport, etc., on the distribution of free textbooks to the District Education Officers shortly.
As scheduled already by the District Education Officers regarding the schools and the date of distribution of the free textbooks, this should be informed to the school headmasters in advance. The Headmaster must be advised to be present in schools while the textbooks arrive.
While undertaking this activity, all concerned must follow the guideline given for the prevention of the coronavirus pandemic - such as wearing face masks, hand-gloves, etc., and this must be closely monitored by the District Education Officers.
