On Wednesday, 17th June, The Kanchipuram District Superintendent of Police (SP), P. Chamundeeswari has announced that cases will be filed on those persons who venture to enter Kanchipuram from Chennai without E-pass.

The SP further said in this regard:

“5 test stalls have been set up in the Chennai-Kanchipuram border areas. The persons can enter Kanchipuram only via these test stalls. In case any person comes from Chennai without E-pass, the case will be booked on them and the vehicles will be seized.

For this purpose, a special squad of 20, headed by a DSP (Deputy Superintendent of Police) has been deployed for vehicle-check. They will be deployed throughout 24 hours on a rotation basis.

As 100% lockdown conditions are proposed to be imposed from 19th June until 30th June,  cases will be filed on persons who venture outside needlessly - so, the public is warned NOT TO Venture UT UNNECESSARILY!

The Kanchipuram Police and the City Corporation together are engaged in catching those without wearing face masks and charge them with a penalty of Rs. 100. Wit this penalty alone, Rs. 3 Lakhs have been collected so far!  While receiving the penalty of Rs. 100, we also give 3 face masks! So, immediate action will be taken on those who venture out without wearing face masks.

Further, if anyone from outside other districts enters Kanchipuram district to purchase liquor from the liquor/TASMAC shops here, stringent action will be immediately taken. Please note that additional police have been deployed near the shops for this purpose!”
