A new science group introduced the for class 11 students by the TN government without chemistry subject has been making many heads now.
The experts have mentioned that this new science group would affect the students as the students would not be able to join engineering courses and basic sciences courses at the UG level. This new group without chemistry subject has surprised many schools because these schools do not know the exact reason behind this new launch.
It is known that Anna University or AU admits students based on the marks obtained in subjects like mathematics, chemistry and physics only. Many career consultants have warned the students about this new course without chemistry.
The students in class 11 could opt for either 3 or 4 core subject groups. Point is those who opt for groups with computer science would not be able to join engineering courses. It is brought out that those who opt for groups without chemistry would suffer in engineering class.
For the purpose of reducing the school student stress, the TN government had reduced the number of subjects to 5 including 3 core subjects. The career choices of a student would be limited if he or she chooses a biology group without maths or commerce group without economics/ business maths etc. The performances of the students at the competitive exams would be decreased.
There would be little scope for the students who join maths, physics and computer science groups. These students as of now would not be able to join courses like engineering, BSc physics, BSc Maths, because chemistry is an ancillary subject in these. This was as per Mr. K .John, principal of Shenoy Nagar based school. He wanted the TN government to continue with the existing 4 core subjects for the sake of the student careers.
