TN State Govt order : Corona treatment for government empoyees / pensioners through Insurance!

The State Government of Tamil Nadu has announced that the treatment for the coronavirus infected state government employees and pensioners will be given through the insurance coverage scheme.
Tamil Nadu State Government Department of Finance Additional Chief Secretary S. Krishnan released this order on Wednesday, 24th June.

Details:

Tamil Nadu State Government Department of Health has already announced that the treatment for the coronavirus infection from the Chie Minister`s Health Insurance Plan.

In this situation, a committee had been formed to fix the maximum limit of the coronavirus treatment charges under the Tamil Nadu State Government Employees and Pensioners’ New Health Insurance Cover Scheme.

This committee was headed by the Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Heat Services Commission, P. Umanath. This committee had made certain recommendations which were thoroughly scrutinized by the State Government of Tamil Nadu and then approved.

Under the revised new Insurance Coverage Scheme, up to Rs. 4 Lakhs is offered for medical treatment for the state government employees and pensioners. On this basis, for those state government employees and their families affected with coronavirus, requiring treatment, can get the treatment payment through the present insurance coverage scheme guidelines.

The State Government of Tamil Nadu has already fixed the daily charges for the treatment and released the treatment charge details on 5th June. So, the Tamil Nadu State Government Employees and Pensioners can undergo treatment for the coronavirus infection on the basis of the above rates.

For those who do not require emergency treatment, the State Government of Tamil Nadu has approved 2 types of funds to United Insurance. As per this, for those who do not need emergency treatment in the hospitals approved by the Tamil Nadu State Government, a separate fund of Rs. 5 crores have been allotted. Another fund of Rs. 2.5 Crores has been allotted for the treatment of the pensioners and their families.

The above 2 types of allotment funds are released by the State Government of Tamil Nadu.

Even in the case of getting treatment in hospitals unapproved by the Insurance Agency, a separate arrangement has been made for the payment of the treatment charges. For this instance, approval can be obtained for this sort of treatment from the authorised committee for this purpose and get the treatment as above.

The hospitals approved listed under the Government cannot charge more than the rates fixed by the State Government of Tamil Nadu. The guidance for this aspect can be e given by the Insurance Comp[any to the hospitals.

In case the State Government of Tamil Nadu Employees  or pensioners had undergone treatment for the coronavirus infection in the approved hospitals from 1st March until now, they can present the receipts for the payments for the treatment to the Commissioner of the Treasury and Accounts.

In the above order, the Additional Chief secretary of the Finance department of the State Government of Tamil Nadu has informed that on receipt of this submission of treatment charges receipts, the Commissioner of the Treasury and Accounts will recommend payment.
