The senior persons, sick and destitute of Chennai city belonging to intense lockdown places in Chennai need not worry about food.
Information is these persons belonging to the Chennai city would soon be getting food free of cost. Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Mr. E. Palaniswami mentioned on Tuesday that free food would be given to the above-said persons living in Chennai and in nearby places where intense lockdown would be imposed from 1st of July 2020.
Amma canteens would continue to provide free food for the residents of Chennai plus in other places like Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, and Tiruvallur, etc. It must be taken into account that Amma canteens resumed the supply of free food from 19th July. It is known that from this date lockdown without restrictions allowed previously kicked in.
It was brought out by the CM that he had ordered to hand over food free of cost at the residences of the elderly, sick, and destitute. He hinted that this initiative of supplying food free of cost would be there till the end of the tightened lockdown.
It is now said that for the purpose of implementing this initiative the authorities have been directed to strengthen the community kitchens.
