The first vaccine developed in India to cure the coronavirus pandemic, known as ‘covaxine’, is all set to be tested in 2 stages in the 1st Phase of testing in July on human patients.
A biotech company in Hyderabad, joining with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), jointly with the National Insurance Academy (NIA), Pune, has created this vaccine. This was tested in various stages on animals successfully and now, India’s Chief Medical Controller has permitted this vaccine to be tested on humans.
The 1st level of testing will be done a specific number of patients with specific doses of the vaccine. Based on the results of this 1st Test and the side-effects observed, the 2nd Test will be undertaken with a larger number of patients.
If the above 2 stages of tests are successful, the 3rd level of testing will be taken up with thousands of infection-affected. The results of this 3rd level test would be analyzed thoroughly and then only the patent/license for production will be given.
