On Monday, 13th July, Chennai city witnessed a dip in the number of fresh Coronavirus cases for the fifth consecutive day. As many as 1140 persons tested positive for Coronavirus yesterday.
In Tamil Nadu as many as4328 persons tested positive for Coronavirus yesterday. There were 66 persons who succumbed to the infection and the death toll crossed 2000 in TN.
There were more number of Coronavirus positive cases from areas like Chengalpet, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Madurai etc and these areas have become priority areas for the health department.
In the district of Madurai there were as many as464 cases and it was the highest ever recorded in a single day. Districts like Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur had a rise of 352 cases and 337 cases respectively. There were 219 fresh Coronavirus cases in Chengalpet district yesterday.
On Monday, 3035 persons got discharged and the total number of persons who got discharged after treatment stood at 92,567. There are as many as 48,196 active cases now. It must be noted that there seems to be no significant reduction in the number of deaths in TN.
On 27th June 2020, the death toll in TN went above 1000 and in just 15 days the death toll has gone past 2000. In Chennai city, yesterday there were 24 deaths due to Coronavirus infection. As many as7 persons died in Chengalpet and 4 in Madurai and Ramanathapuram.
An official belonging to the health department spoke about how the number of fresh r new Coronavirus positive cases has been decreasing in Chennai city. He added that rural parts of TN are given importance now. He concluded that the case load has increased in Chengalpet, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Madurai.
In the last 24 hours of time, a total of 44,560 samples were tested in TN and by this the total number of samples tested is 1654008.
