In the month of April, GCC had collected the data of persons from the house visits. It is now brought out that GCC would be using this database to make a surprise call to enquire about the health and possible Corona symptoms.

As many as65 lakh residents on the database would be called at any time by GCC to find out if they have symptoms of Coronavirus infection.

Joint commissioner for health, MR. Madhusudhanan Reddy, explained about how it would be very tough to survey everyone every single day and how technology would be used for this. He spoke about the use of IVRS or Interactive Voice Response System that would lessen the burden of tele-counselling centres.

Persons who are older, those with disabilities and those with active Covid-19 infection and symptoms would be given more importance and they would be called first. It is said that each call made by the GCC would cost Rs 1.

The Chennai residents would be asked whether they had any Coronavirus symptoms like fever, cold, breathlessness etc. Persons with symptoms would be asked to explain further regarding if they need any medical attention etc. Languages like Tamil and English would be used for the calls.
