The ministry of Hindu religion and Endowments had granted permission to hold festivals in temples and live telecast these festivals to the devotees from YouTube. The restrictions to visit temples for the public people stay in action. The Commissioner to the ministry of Hindu religion and Endowment activities, Paneenthara Reddy said that all the temples under the Tamil Nadu Endowments ministry listed or unlisted shall conduct special poojas and festivals.

Every temple has its own special poojas and festivals where devotees crowd in large numbers. However, all the temples in Tamil Nadu were ordered not to allow devotees on any day until the government clears the ban. Hence, the secretaries of the ministry have been receiving letters to consider for festivals and telecast them live on YouTube. The government considers these requests from the temple authorities have permitted festivals.

The guidelines imposed by the government to conduct these festivals are as follows:
  • All the festivals conducted by the temples need not get special permission from the head office.
  • The festivals should happen without any modifications in the customs and norms yet within the temple.
  • No sponsors and devotees shall take part in many festivals.
  • Any special permission needed to conduct the festivals should be approved by the district officials from the ministry.
  • Facilities to watch the festivals from home must be arranged by the temple authorities for the devotees.
