Shift of patta along with the land registration

The registration for the shift of properties like lands and plots happens with the Registrar. It becomes a hustle for the landowners to get patta approval for the land. To help the landowners, the office of the registrar will shift the ownership along with approving patta for the land registered. This method was first tested with the Registrar in Kancheepuram district, Walajabad Taluk office. The registered property was given patta since 17 July.

After the analysis of the new method, the new service will be implemented in all Registrar offices from 1 August 2020. An officer from the registrar office said about this as follows: If they are with the same survey number, then the patta will be approved along with the registration of ownership. As per this new plan, once the plot has been registered it is analyzed whether there is a sole owner to the property, no issues pertaining to ownership and existing patta will be valued. If the issues have been settled, then the patta is also shifted and registered automatically. Hence, there is no permission required for a patta for a particular land.
