Oxford University, jointly with AstraZeneca Company, has invented the vaccine for coronavirus. The tests conducted on this vaccine by testing on humans have yielded successful results.
The tests on human beings were undertaken during the months of April and May in 5 hospitals in England. 1077 healthy - physically robust - persons were selected in the age group 18-55. It has been confirmed that the persons administered with the test the vaccine has got good protection against the coronavirus attack.
In the Medical Journal ‘LANCET’, the doctors who undertook the trials have informed that 56 days after the administration of the vaccine, it was confirmed that the antibody and D cells that resist the attack of the virus had increased in these persons. It may be noted that here that ‘D Cells’ in the human body are the ones that offer resistance and fight against the virus attack.
It has been decided to produce this vaccine invented by Oxford University in India itself. For this purpose, the Serum Institute, located in Pune as its headquarters, has decided to apply for a license. Serum Institute is the largest producer of medicines in the world. Oxford University and AstraZeneca had announced that once the experiments by is declared successful, they would go ahead with the production of this vaccine on a large scale with the serum Institute.
In this regard, the CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of the Serum Institute Adaar Poonavalla shared:
“Good news has been received regarding the trial undertaken by the Oxford University on its invented vaccine for coronavirus. We will also apply to the Indian Government to undertake tests in India as well. Approval will be given immediately. So, we will start the trials in India soon, and once successful will go on with the production of the vaccine on a large scale.”
