To bring down the mortality rate, all government hospitals belonging to Chennai have wards opened for suspected Coronavirus cases. This was highlighted yesterday by Mr. G. Prakash, Chennai Corporation commissioner.
Field workers who are doing door-door checking in Chennai would immediately take the person with breathlessness to the suspect Covid-19 ward in the government hospitals rather than waiting for testing. By this, the mortality rate would be reduced. It must be taken into note that the Chennai Corporation commissioner was busy flagging off LED video awareness vehicles yesterday.
It is important to note that the opening of suspect Covid-19 wards in the government hospitals in Chennai was started in the last week. By this new effort, the mortality rate would reduce by 0.2% to 0.3$. This was as per Mr. Prakash.
Multi-fold increase in the testing in Chennai has resulted in the reduction in the positivity rate from 37% in June to 9.5% to 11% now. In the past in the Chennai city, 4000 to 5000 persons were tested and this was before 15th June and it was scaled up to 14,000. Important piece of information is on an average daily 12,000 persons get tested for Coronavirus infection in Chennai.
