The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has informed that there are prospects for medium rain with thunder in 9 districts in Tamil Nadu and prospects for heavy rain in 3 districts.
The Chennai Meteorological Centre has explained that due to the cyclonic format developing in the upper layers of the atmosphere, there are prospects for medium rain with lightning and thunder in 1 or 2 places in the districts of Krishnagiri, Vellore, Salem, Dharmapuri, Villupuram, Thiruvannamalai, Kanchipuram, Thiruvallur and Puducherry.
The Meteorological Centre has further informed that there are prospects for mild rain in the northern coastal districts of Tamil Nadu and the districts lying adjacent to the Western Ghat Mountain Range. Also, there are prospects for heavy rains in 1 or 2 places in the districts of Salem, Dharmapuri, and Nilgiri.
As regards the Chennai Metro City, the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has informed that there are prospects for mild rains with thunder in a few areas in the city.
There are prospects for mild to medium rain in the next 48 hours in the districts of Coimbatore, Nilgiri, Salem, Erode, Dharmapuri, and Krishnagiri.
As there are strong prospects for cyclonic winds blowing across at high speeds in the areas f Bay of Mannar, southeast and south-central The Arabian Sea, coastal Kerala and Karnataka, Lakhdiv and Maldives, the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has warned that the fishermen must not venture into the sea for fishing.
