International flights ban to continue until 31st August

The Indian Government has continued its ban on international flight services until 31st August.

The central government banned international flight services on 23rd May as a preventive measure while imposing the 1st Phase of lockdown conditions throughout the country against the onset and raging spread of the coronavirus pandemic, Subsequently, as the impact/extent 0of the raging coronavirus pandemic has continued unabated, the lockdown phases of 2,3,4,5, and 6 were imposed in the country. Phase 6 lockdown concluded on 31st Jul. Bur Phase-7 lockdown has been declared in the state of Tamil Nadu from 1st August to 31st August. In a similar mode, the central government has also continued its ban on international flights, extending it until 31st August which has been announced by the Air Transport Authority.

At the same time, it has also been announced that this ban on international flights will not be valid for international flight services by air.

During this ban period, permission has been granted for the flights by over 2,500 foreign airlines and Indian Airlines carrying the stranded Indians abroad back to their country and to take the stranded foreigners in India back to their countries.

Under the plan, ‘Vande Bharath’, around 2,67,436 persons in Air India flights and 4,96,811 persons through foreign airlines have been brought to India from 6th May to 30th July.
