Rampant COVID spread in the Chennai outskirts than in the city now

Chennai reported just 1065 fresh Coronavirus positive cases but the neighboring districts like Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, and Chengalpet together reported as many as 1156 fresh cases yesterday.

The state of TN recorded as many as 5875 fresh cases yesterday. This has shown the rampant spread of the virus on the outskirts of Chennai. Till now, TN had reported as many as 2,57,613 Coronavirus cases. 

On Sunday, Chennai had 98 more deaths due to this infection and the fatality rate continues to be on the higher side in TN. Out of the total of 98 deaths reported, 75 deaths took place at the government hospitals and the rest at the private hospitals in TN.

90 people have passed away due to co-morbid conditions in them and the other 8 who died did not have any health issues. They succumbed to COVID Pneumonia and due to Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome. 

TN toll has reached 4132 and out of total deaths, 2157 deaths were from Chennai. There were as many as 446 Coronavirus fresh cases from the Chengalpet district. Tiruvallur district had 317 cases and Kancheepuram district had 393 cases.

There were 337 fresh cases reported from Virudhunagar district and in the last 24 hours, a significant number of fresh cases have been reported from districts like Ranipet, Theni, Coimbatore, Cuddalore, Madurai, Vellore, and Kanniyakumari, etc. 

In the last 24 hours in TN, a total of 60,344 samples were tested and there has been the continued focus of sample testing. As many as 5517 persons got discharged after treatment across TN in the last 24 hours.
