In the wake of the rise in the number of applications to Arts and Science colleges, the Bharathiar University will take in 10 per cent more students from the coming academic year. The rise in the intake will apply for all arts and science colleges that fall under the University’s umbrella.

According to reports, one of the colleges in Sivagiri has enrolled 338 students for its 330 seats. The University will also hold placement camps in Chennai. ‘Last year around 78,000 engineering seats fell vacant and it would be more with opportunities for IT engineering students reaching a saturation point’, said Bharathiar University Vice Chancellor Dr. G. James Pitchai.
