The Central Ministry of Environment has approved the proposal to build an express-way from Maduravoyal to Chennai Port.
A proposal was made to construct a 4-way express road between Chennai Port and Maduravoyal for a distance of 20.565 km at a cost of Rs. 3204 Crores with the main objectives of reducing traffic congestion in this route as well as facilitating easier means of transporting goods/freight.
This proposed express-way starts from the Chennai Port and links the important locations of the Chennai Metro City – Chintadripet, Egmore, Amaindhakarai, and Koyambedu.
The Central Ministry of Environment has approved this project to be executed under the Coast Streamlining Zone.
A review of this project was taken up during the meeting conducted on 30th July by the Experts Committee of the Ministry.
Further, with the approval obtained from the Forest Zoology Board as well, presently, the Experts Committee of the Central Ministry of Environment has presently approved this project.
