The entry points to the Chennai city were full of traffic and there were many vehicles. The reason for this heavy traffic was because of the TN state government decision to relax the process of issuing e-pass from Monday. The heavy traffic was even witnessed in the government website through which the e-passes are being issued.

Sriperumbudur and Paranur toll plazas are the 2 main entry points to Chennai city and there were a large number of vehicles at these 2 entry points. It is a known fact that in the lockdown period only a fraction of people were crossing the district borders. The absence of police personnel at the check posts was mentioned by some motorists and due to that reason the motorists were able to move easily.

Workers from southern districts returned back to the city for their work and due to this there was heavy traffic at the entry points to Coimbatore also. There were many who were disappointed as the Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency or TNeGA website was also not opening. This has stopped many from applying for e-passes till 1pm.

The heavy traffic in the government website created issues and some of the features did not function properly. This was mentioned by some sources belonging to TNeGA. The e-passes were issued immediately after the traffic reduced after 2pm.

The TN government has imposed restrictions in the movement of the people ever since the lock down started in TN. Point is only those with e-passes were allowed to travel from one place to another.

A committee was made to look into this e-passes issuing and it recommended issuing e-passes to any person who have submitted an Aadhar card or ration card along with their contact numbers. It is brought out that GCC has asked the people to use e-passes only for genuine purposes.
