A meeting of the milk producers’ union headed by K.M. Rama Gounder met at Krishnagiri to discuss issues faced across Tamil Nadu. They have approached the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister j. Jayalalithaa to hike the procurement price, as there has been an increase in production cost due to the drought.
‘A 50 kilo bag of cattle feed that sold for Rs 350, is now supplied for Rs 1,000 because the cattle feed manufacturers also bear the brunt of the bad monsoon. But farmers were paid as before without taking into consideration the present production cost involved… (Please follow Karnataka and) protect farmers and prevent the cattle from being sent to slaughter houses’, said Mr. Gounder.
