Just a few days back, it was said that the restaurants in Chennai have started doing good business and many people have started visiting the restaurants once again after the removal of the lock down restrictions.
It is now brought out that the strike by the Swiggy delivery executives has affected the business of the restaurants in Chennai. It must be noted that since Friday 5000 delivery executives of Swiggy have been protesting across the Chennai city and they have been demanding the restoration of old pay structure.
According to a Chennai restaurant owner, food delivery app Swiggy has got the largest share with wide network coverage. He stated that though the restaurants could allow 50% of their capacity, the restaurants mostly depend on the takeaways these days. This was because of the fact that the customers prefer to order food from home.
The complete lockdown on the Sundays have been an issue for many restaurants in Chennai now. This has resulted in poor business for the restaurants. This was as per another restaurant owner.
Point is the TN government must relax conditions on Sundays as both takeaways as well as eat-out at the restaurants have been difficult now.
On Tuesday, the Swiggy delivery executives have approached the chief minister of TN Mr. E. Palaniswami for sorting out the ongoing issue.
A delivery executive expressed his thoughts and pointed out that the company was not adhering to the laws and the company has been making money due to the efforts of the delivery executives.
