Going to college for the first time and having the feel of the campus life is really amazing!!
This year, it will be totally different. The students of the first year in TN would not be going to the colleges this time but it would be a novel experience for them on Wednesday, 19th August. The first year students would be logging from their homes and they would be introduced to their institutions and their professors. Truth is Coronavirus pandemic has been the culprit here and it has stopped the colleges from opening.
It is important to note that many Chennai colleges have decided to start online classes for the first year students though the government arts and sciences college are still in the admission stage.
It was highlighted by some heads of the institutions that the college officials have decided to follow the UGC regulations for the online classes. Till now, there has been no clear guideline issued by the Madras University or by the Directorate of Collegiate Education or DCE.
It was decided by some colleges to launch the orientation programmes first followed by co-curricular activities and then introduce online sessions for the first year students. Now, other colleges are waiting for the instructions from the government authorities.
