The delay in the class12 revaluation and re-totalling of marks has been cited as the reason for the postponement of the engineering rank list in TN. It is now mentioned that 17th September would be the new date. This was according to the TN higher education minister, Mr. K.P. Anbalagan.

Point is as per the original schedule the rank list was supposed to be released on 7th September 2020.On Wednesday, 26th August, TNEA committee assigned a 10 digit random numbers for 131436 candidates for engineering counselling.

The higher education minister later said that the random numbers would be sent to the registered mobile numbers of the applicants. Many candidates score the same marks and the random numbers would be used to break the tie while ranking.

Information collected is the merit among such candidates would be determined in the order of the percentage of marks scored in subjects like maths, physics, fourth optional subject, DOB (elder to be given preference) and the random numbers( higher value to be preferred)

It must not be forgotten that this year due to Coronavirus infection issues the results of class 12 were delayed by 3 months. On 16th July only, the class 12 results were declared in TN.
