The Chennai airport is back to its normalcy now as flights and passengers have started to increase here. It is known that the TN government has removed restrictions in travelling. In July, this airport had 6000 passengers and in August it had more than 7000 passengers. The number of flights has increased from 50 per day to near 80 per day on most days in August.

After the domestic flights have resumed in Chennai airport, 24th August witnessed 81 flights with 8067 passengers. This is the highest till now. Fact is arrivals saw 4617 passengers and departures saw 3450.The restrictions have been fewer and this has led to more arrivals and departures have reduced unlike the earlier trend.

There is now slow revival in the movement of the passenger movement now and it is a good sign. This was according to an official belonging to the airport. He spoke about how the people would start travelling for businesses and for trade sake. He hinted about the airlines adding more destinations and flights.

It is now believed that when the international become a regular feature then the number of passengers would also increase. It must be noted that the flights to Mumbai and arrivals from Koikata have resumed. Just a month back, the number of flight services was one or two to Delhi and it has increased to 6 now.

From Chennai, daily there are now flights to places like Madurai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and 3 daily to Trichy, Coimbatore and Tuticorin. There are 2 flights from Mumbai to Chennai now as Maharashtra has restricted the flight frequency.

It must not be forgotten that in June and in July the majority who used flights were making only emergency trips. The restrictions and unreliable flight schedules have made many think twice before coming to Chennai.
