The public health care officials are now in a state of dilemma!!
There is suspicion now about some healthcare staff workers being re-infected again by Coronavirus infection at the medical colleges in Chennai city. It is now said that the public health officials are looking closely at the reflected cases.
Point is though the initial impression is that the cases could be false negatives but the public health officials are not taking any chance as it could pose a huge challenge if there was any re-infection.
It was highlighted by a medical staff belonging to SMCH Chennai that there have been a couple of cases of re-infection among the healthcare staff but most of them are asymptomatic. He added that there are reports that the continuous exposure to the infection soon after the recovery might have resulted in the re-infection.
He concluded that there are instances when the antibodies present in the body of a person recovering from Covid-19 infection might not be adequate to prevent re-infection.
A doctor from Chennai based RGGGH and MMC spoke about how few doctors have tested positive twice for covid-19 infection and how the numbers were not recorded separately in case of re-infection.
Dean of MMC, Dr. E. Tharanirajan pointed out that there were few cases of re-infection among doctors and how most of them were asymptomatic. He explained that the treatment is being given according to the protocol and the cases are being investigated now.
There are several cases of re-infection among the public as well as healthcare workers. This has been mentioned by a senior official belonging to the department of public health and preventive medicine.
It must be noted that the majority of cases were from the government hospitals in TN. The senior officer threw light on the checking of these re-infection cases if they were on a large scale.
