COVID infection rate slowly decreasing in TN

Mr. C. Vijayabaskar, health minister of TN had mentioned that the Covid-19 infection rate is falling in TN. Point is that the positivity rate is below 10percent in most parts of TN except in the Cuddalore district. He threw light on how the people must follow pandemic rules like wearing facemasks, maintaining social distancing and hand hygiene etc. By following these, there would be a low infection rate in TN.

It is important to mention that TN had added more than 400 beds to the 800 bed facility at SMCH in Chennai. These new beds are oxygen beds and it would help the people belonging to Chennai. 

On Thursday, 10th September, TN had as many as 5528 fresh Coronavirus positive cases and 64 died due to the infection. Information is the case tally has touched 486052 and the death toll has reached 8154. 

As many as 48482 persons are still under treatment. With the discharge of 6185 persons on Thursday, the total number of persons who got discharged rose to 429416.

On Thursday, Chennai reported 991 fresh Covid-19 cases and the district of Chengalpet reported 279 fresh cases. Districts like Tiruvallur and Kancheepuram reported 296 and 193 fresh cases respectively. Chennai had 10845 active cases and Chennai region had 16541 active cases. 

There were 1001 active cases in other northern districts in TN. Districts like Cuddalore, Villupuram, Vellore, Thiruvannamalai etc had 263 fresh cases, 189 cases,152 cases and 81 cases respectively.

There were 1366 fresh Coronavirus cases reported from the western districts with Coimbatore reporting 4440 fresh cases. This was followed by districts like Salem, Tirupur and Dharmapuri with 300 cases, 155 cases and 124 cases respectively. 

The number of active Covid-19 cases in Coimbatore was 20839 till Thursday and as many as 545 patients got discharged. As many as 340 persons have succumbed to the infection in Coimbatore.
