The Greater Chennai Corporation or GCC has been able to maintain the test positivity rate of around 7% now as the daily new cases have come below 1000 again in the last few days.
On 12th September, Coronavirus tests were done on 12362 persons but of those just 978 n persons tested positive. This is a 7.9% positivity rate. It must be taken into account that GCC tested as many as 12626 persons n 11th September and just 987 persons tested positive for the infection and the positivity rate was 7.81%.
It must be remembered that some time back the test positivity rate in Chennai city was 35 to 40% and it has come down so much now. The GCC wants the test positivity rate to be reduced to just 5% in Chennai. This was confirmed by the Chennai corporation commissioner Mr G. Prakash.
There are single digit active case rates in 13 out of 15 GCC zones now. North Chennai zones like Tondiarpet and Tiruvottriyur have got just 5% active cases. This is the lowest in the entire Chennai city. Out of all the GCC zones, Manali has got the lowest number of active Coronavirus cases and 133 persons are still undergoing treatment.
Kodambakkam zone has got the highest number of active cases of 1178 active cases now. This zone has got a 7% active case. Other zones like Royapuram, Manali, Teynampet and Anna Nagar have got just 6% active cases now.
Information gathered in zones like Alamdur and Perungudi have got 10% active cases. It is superb to mention that over 1.33lakhs persons have got cured from Covid-19 infection in Chennai City. Chennai city has now got as many as 10645 active Coronavirus infection cases and it is 7%.
Truth is Chennai city has been able to maintain a growth rate of fresh Coronavirus cases in negative value. It must be noted that on 12th September, Chennai city showed minus 0.8 percent growth rate. In terms of growth rate of fresh Coronavirus cases, Manali has become the best zone.Other zones such as Kodambakkam, Thiru Vi-Ka Nagar, Adyar, Teynampet and Sholinganallur etc had 1.9% growth rate.
