The requests from the students have been taken into consideration now by the authorities.
Mr. K. Anbalagan, higher education minister, announced on Wednesday, 16th September that the release of the engineering rank list has been deferred to 25th September. It is worth mentioning that the engineering rank list was supposed to be announced on 17th September itself.
As many as 160834 applications have been received in this year for the online counselling by the TNEA committee and just 131436 candidates have paid their fees. Truth is 114206 candidates alone have uploaded their certificates.
In the normal circumstances, the candidates would be called to the facilitation centres for the verification of the original certificates. This year due to the Coronavirus threat this was cancelled and TNEA decided to verify the certificates online.
Uploading the certificates was not an easy process and many students have found it difficult due to various reasons is known fact.
Important information is uploading has been completed for the majority of the students and few have sought extra time for uploading their certificates. This has been cited as the reason by the higher education minister for the delay in the announcement of the engineering rank list.
The minister later asked all the students to check on www.tneanline.org regarding the verification of their certificates. Two help line numbers have been given for the students for clarification of their doubts and they are 044 22351014 and 044 22351015.
It must not be forgotten that as per the original schedule the engineering rank list was supposed to be released on 7th September but was postponed due to the delay in the class 12 revaluation.
In the 458 engineering colleges in TN, there are as many as 161877 seats this year. Truth is the number of seats that would be available this year is less than that of the last year.
