In the Chennai Metro City so far, Rs. 2.08 Crores have been collected as penalties for violating the corona guidelines.
Especially, a penalty of Rs. 13.24 Lakhs has been collected from those who failed to wear face masks.
The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has placed strong and strict guidelines to be followed to prevent the spreading of the raging coronavirus pandemic. The guidelines include the wearing of face masks and following the social distancing guidelines.
GCC officials and the District Revenue Department officials are now engaged in levying penalties for the citizens who violate the above guidelines to prevent coronavirus pandemic.
In the above scenario, a collection of penalties of Rs. 20899762 has been reported since the 1st Monday of May till 21st September. Out of this, especially an amount of Rs. 1324250 has been collected from the citizens who did not wear face masks.
In this regard, the GCC Officials shared that the maximum penalty of Rs. 44 Lakhs has been collected from the Royapuram Zone, Rs. 27 lakhs from Tondiarpet, Rs. 22 Lakhs from Madhavaram, and Rs. 17 Lakhs from Kodambakkam.
