Just recently, the MBBS aspirants in Tamil Nadu wrote NEET. For the sake of ensuring transparency, MBBS counselling in TN would remain offline only. It is known that the counselling and submission of the applications for admissions to PG medical courses were made online. In-person counselling is very important for the sake of transparency and this was as per some officials.

By the second week of October, NEET results would be announced and the submission of the applications would be done online. The website is tnmedicalselectin.net. It has been mentioned that the online submission would be followed by the offline submission of the filled in applications

In the third week of October, the rank list would be released and it would be done online on the website of the TN Medical Selection Committee. The Directorate of Medical Education opted social media applications and video conferencing for the admissions to the post graduate or PG courses but the MBBS counselling would continue to remain offline for ensuring transparency.

As per Dr. Narayana Babu, DME, it was clear that the admissions to the PG medical courses were carried out amidst lockdown and hence online counselling was done due to lack of other options.

Now, the students would be free to travel inside the state after the relaxations in the lockdown and counselling sessions would be done offline for the students. This was according to some senior officials belonging to the DME.

During the counselling for MBBS admissions, all precautionary measures and safety precautions along with adequate social distancing would be taken without fail.

For more than 4000 state quota medical seats, the first round of counselling for the government and management quota seats would be conducted in the last week of October month. It is now pointed out that from November month the academic year for the undergraduate medical courses would start.
