On Fridays, Koyambedu market complex in Chennai would be shut down

The news is CMDA authorities have decided to close the Koyambedu wholesale market complex on Fridays for the above said purpose. It is known that this market in Koyambedu is getting ready to resume operations gradually one portion at a time. On 18th September, the food grains traders reopened and others would reopen on Monday.

A meeting took place between the representatives of the traders associations and CMDA officials. In this meeting, the decision about weekly closure of the market was taken. On Thursday, the member secretary Mr. Karthikeyan inspected the preparedness at the market complex.

According to an official, those entering the market premises would be checked for symptoms using thermal scanners and all the vehicles would be disinfected before allowing them inside. For cleaning and to maintain the market premises, the market would be closed on Fridays.

It must be taken into account that the retail trade would not be allowed inside the market and 2wheelers and autos would not be allowed inside the market. Wearing facemask would be compulsory for the shop owners and there would be thermal scanners, oxymeters and disinfectants. 

As a uniform, the workers must wear knitted shirts and social distancing would be maintained inside the market. The details of the workers would be collected by the shop owners and instructions have been given regarding this. Important information is vendors who come to purchase would be allowed till 9am inside the market and the gates would be closed later.
