The Secretariat in Chennai is now making sensational news!!

It is well known that the TN government has allowed 100 percent staff strength from 1st September onwards in all the government offices. In the May month, an alternate day work schedule was introduced. Six days per week work has been there since May in the government offices in TN.

It was pointed out by Mr. Peter Antonysamy, president TNSA that lack of enough space in the offices like secretariat etc has resulted in the absence of social distancing. It has become a routine for the staff to contract Coronavirus. In the last 15days, atleast 80 staff in the 15 departments of the Secretariat turned Coronavirus positive.

As a result of the increase in the Covid-19 positive cases among the TN government staff, Tamil Nadu Secretariat Association or TNSA had requested CM of TN Mr. E. Palaniswami to reinstate the 5 day work schedule.

Mr. Peter Antonysamy later threw light on how the 5-day work schedule was introduced by late CM of Tamil Nadu J. Jayalalitha in the year 1992. Point is that in the 5-day work schedule, the staff could work for 7 hours and 45 minutes instead of 6 hours and 30 minutes in the 6 day schedule.
