This piece of information would surprise many now!!

World’s largest and first detailed study on SARS-CoV2 transmission pattern in India was conducted by Ramanan Lakshminarayan, director of Centre for Disease Dynamics, Economics and Policy. It must be noted that more than 3million contacts were traced in the states like AP and TN from the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic in India till August.

The study has brought to light that 70% of the infected individuals did not infect any of their contacts. Truth is that 60% of the new infections were from less than 10percent of the infected individuals.

It is now said that mere 8% of India`s confirmed Coronavirus cases have resulted in two thirds of the infection. The children too played their roles in the spreading of the Coronavirus infection.

It has been shown by the data that children below 14 years of age were frequent silent spreaders of the infection. Many nations were of the opinion that the kids would not spread the Coronavirus infection and what the data suggests is totally different.

A big second wave was witnessed in Israel after the schools were reopened for the students. Now, the schools are closed one again there and there is now a second lockdown going on in Israel.

Smart implementation of reopening of schools:

Mr. Ramanan Lakshminarayanan was of the view that smart implementation of re-opening of the schools must be carried out. He pointed out that it was difficult for the kids to keep away from others in the schools. He added that it would be tough to enforce mask wearing and social distancing in the children. Importance on staggered reopening of the classes was stressed. By that, some children would attend the schools on one day while the other students on the next day.

The decision of the government to have a country wide lockdown in the month of March was also appreciated by Mr. Ramanan Lakshminarayanan. Information collected is that before the lockdown even primary cases were creating 4 secondary cases and after the implementation of the lockdown the number has come down to 1..5.
