On Monday, 5th October, the results of JEE (Advanced) conducted by IIT Delhi were announced and out of 1.5 lakh students, 43000 candidates have qualified this year. This has become the subject of discussion for many now.
It is well known that IIT Madras or IITM zone comprises TN, Puducherry, Kerala, AP and Telangana. It has been revealed that as many as 140 students of this IIT M zone have passed in the list of top 500.
The top 100 list has as many as 28 students belonging to the IIT M zone. This is now the highest count when compared to other zones like IIT- Bombay, IIT- Delhi, IIT-Guwahati, IIT-Kanpur, IIT-Kharagpur and IIT-Roorkee.
A student named Chirag Falor from Pune of IIT-Bombay zone scored 352 out of 396 and he was the top ranker in Common Rank List or CRL. In March, Chirag Falor secured admission in MIT but he was pursuing studies online due to Coronavirus infection outbreak and subsequent lockdown. After the JEE Advance results were announced, Chirag Falor said that he would continue to attend classes online at MIT.
It must be noted that Kanishka Mittal belonging to IIT Roorkee zone was the top ranked girls student with 315marks out of 396 marks. She was ranked 17 in CRL.
In the IIT Madras zone, Landa Jitendra was ranked first and he belonged to the OBC Non Creamy layer NCL. Gangula Bhuvan Reddy of IIT M zone belongs to the Economically Weaker Section or EWS and he was the top scorer of this section.
Information collected is that the criteria for inclusion in the rank list would be based on the aggregate mark that is the sum of the marks obtained in subjects like Maths, Physics and Chemistry. To be included in the CRL, the candidates must satisfy subject wise as well as aggregate qualifying marks.
