The second flyover construction is nearing completion and this would provide huge relief for many pedestrians as well as the motorists who use this junction frequently.
According to some sources belonging to the Highways Department, the work is expected to be completed by the end of November provided the monsoon doesnt cause any further delay.
It must be noted that this unidirectional flyover has been built at an amount of Rs 41.07 crores and would allow vehicles from Madhavarm to Koyambedu side of JN Salai. The concrete work on the flyover has been completed and currently work has been going on the ramp towards Koyambedu.
Information is that the work would be over in another month or in 45 days if there was no delay in the work due to the monsoons. This second flyover would be 1320m in length and would be longer than the twin flyover 740m carrying traffic from Koyambedu to Madhavaram. A pedestrian subway is being built along with the flyover and it will be completed soon.
An official belonging to the Highways Department revealed that works beneath both the flyovers have been completed. He added that the traffic must be diverted to connect it under the road.
