The maximum age limit for appointment as a teacher in government schools fixed as 40!

The State Government of Tamil Nadu has released an order fixing the maximum age limit for direct appointment as teachers in government schools as 40.
As regards the Tamil Nadu Government, there was an upper age limit earlier until the year 1990 fixed for the direct appointment of teachers in government schools. However, this was withdrawn on the appeal made from various teachers’ associations/unions.
As such, even teachers of 50 year’s age were being given a direct appointment as teachers in government schools.
In this scenario, the State Government of Tamil Nadu has now informed that the upper age limit for direct appointment as teachers is now fixed at 40. In this procedure, a concession of 5 years has been given to candidates belonging to quota (SC/ST/etc.)
