The health secretary Mr. J. Radhakrishnan has made it clear that until a vaccine for Covid-19 becomes available the people must follow safety precautions when they go outdoors. He had also asked the people to avoid crowded places for deepavali shopping.
It must be noted that Mr. Radhakrishnan inspected the Covid-19 speciality wing of Government Rajaji Hospital or GRH in Madurai. He spoke about how the people must not forget precautions because Coronavirus cases have been reducing in TN.
He mentioned that by not following safety precautions the people would be fooling themselves plus causing troubles to others. There has been a need for behavioural change among the public though the government was constantly creating awareness among the public regarding safety precautions. The Covid-19 cases would decline further by following the safety measures.
It must be noted that the health secretary along with the collector Mr. T.G. Vinay and dean of GRH Mr. J. Sangumani interacted with the patients belonging to the Covid-19 wing.
The health secretary later revealed that the main purpose of entering the Covid-19 special ward with PPE was to acknowledge the efforts of doctors and paramedical workers. It is a well known fact that the doctors and paramedical workers have bent rating many Covid-19 patients in the last few months. He concluded that being in frontline with the doctors with PPE for 40 minutes would boost their morale.
There is a newly installed oxygen tank with a capacity of 2okl in GRH and the health secretary also made his presence felt there. The oxygen capacity has been increased at the tertiary, taluk and non-taluk hospitals in TN.
Information collected is that all the districts had a positivity rate below 18% and it was 5% in 18 districts. The positivity rate could be further brought down by the co-operation of the public.
