Due to imposed lockdown conditions as a preventive measure against the raging coronavirus, the entertainments centres, marriage-halls, etc., remained closed throughout Tamil Nadu. Only now, in October, relaxation has been announced for the marriage-halls.
In this situation, The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has asked the popular actor (Superstar) Rajinikanth to pay a Property Tax of Rs. 6.5 lakhs. However, during the period from April to September, with marriage-halls remaining unrented due to the imposition of lockdown conditions as a preventive measure against the raging coronavirus, a petition has been put up on behalf of actor Rajinikanth in the Chennai High Court to withdraw the levy of Property Tax demanded by the GCC.
