Prospects for heavy rains in 15 districts in Tamil Nadu!

The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has informed that there are prospects for heavy rains in 1or 2 places n 15districts in Tamil |Nadu today (Monday, 19th October) due to the phenomenon of cyclonic format in the upper layers of the atmosphere.

In this regard, the Director of the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre, Puviyarasan, shared:

“Due to the cyclonic format developed over the central West Bay of Bengal, there are prospects for heavy rains with thunder in 1 or 2 places in the districts of Thiruvallur, Vellore, Ranippettai, Kanchipuram, Chingleput, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Cuddalore, Pudhukkottai, Trichy, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Karur, Dindigul, and Theni. There are prospects for mild too medium rains with thunder in several places throughout Tamil Nadu.

As regards the Chennai Metro City and its suburbs, the sky will remain cloudy. There are prospects for mild to medium rains with thunder in a few places in the city.

Recorded rainfall: The rainfall recorded in mm as at 8.30 AM On Sunday in the previous 24 hours, Perungalur, Pudhukkottai District, and Vallam, Thanjavur District - 130, Keezhponnathur, Thiruvannamalai District – 110, Thanjavur – 90, Kaariyaapatti, Virudhnagarm Samayapurm, Trichy District, Lalkudi, Arimanam, Pudhukkottai District, Iluppur, Thiruvannamalai District, Thandarampattu, Thiruvarur District, Thirumanur, Ariyalur District, and Chettikulam, Perambalur District -70.

Low-pressure Zone: A low-pressure zone has recently formed today (19th October) over the Central Bay of Bengal region. This may intensify into a depression zone in the next 24 hours.  Due to this, high-speed winds at 45 kmph to 55 kmph may blow over the central-east Bay of Bengal and the adjacent Andhra coastal area. Hence, the fishermen are WARNED NOT TO VENTURE IBNTO THE SEA ON 19TH & 20TH  of October.
