Prospects for heavy rains in 6districts!

The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has informed that there are prospects for heavy rains with thunder today (Tuesday, 20th October) in 6 districts in the State of Tamil Nadu due to the phenomenon of the cyclonic format developed in the upper layers of the atmosphere.

The Director of the Chennai regional Meteorological Centre, Puviyarasan, informed on Monday (19th October regarding this:

"Due to the development of a cyclonic format in the upper layers of the atmosphere, there are prospects for very heavy rains with thunder today (Tuesday, 20th October) in the 6 districts of Villupuram, Thiruvannamalai, Vellore, Ranippettai, Salem, and Dharmapuri.

There are prospects for mild to medium rains in the 9 districts of Erode, Tirupur, Dindigul, Karur, Namakkal, Perambalur, Trichy, Cuddalore, and Ariyalur.

There are prospects for mild rains with thunder in a few places in the districts of Nagappattinam, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, and Mayiladuthurai.

As regards the Chennai Metro City and its suburbs, the sky will remain cloudy. There are prospects for mild to medium rain in a few places in the city."

Warning to fishermen

There are prospects of a low-pressure zone to be formed in the next 24 hours over the central Bay of Bengal and the adjacent areas. Due to this, high-speed winds at 40kmphto 50kmph are likely to blow over the North Andaman Sea zone, Central-west Bay of Bengal zone, coastal areas of South Maharashtra and Karnataka, and the central-west Bay of Bengal. Hence, the fishermen are warned NOT TO VENTURE INTO THE SEA on 22nd October.
