The State Government of Tami Nadu has informed in the Chennai High Court that the online E-Registration is mandatory for those visiting the state of Tamil Nadu from foreign countries.

Based on the enquiry conducted on the petition submitted by a person named Ezhilmadhi, the central government cancelled the procedure of obtaining E-pass for the visitors. However, the State Government of Tami Nadu has ordered that those people from foreign countries visiting Tamil Nadu Mountain resorts such as Nilgiri, Kodaikanal, Yercaud, etc., must get permission from the respective district collectors. Ezhilnidhi, in his petition, has demanded that this order must also be cancelled.

This petition came up for enquiry before the panel of judges A. P|. Sahi and Senthil Kumar Ramamurthy. At that time, the Chief Advocate of the State Government of Tami Nadu Vijay Narayan, on behalf of the State Government explained that the State Government of Tami Nadu had released a multi-sectioned order on 27th October.  It mentions for the local citizens moving from one district to another do not need E-pass. At the same time, tourists who come from abroad and those visiting the mountain resorts, E-registration online is mandatory. As a measure in preventing the spread of the raging coronavirus, the details of the name, address, contact number, and other basic details will be received and subsequently, an automatic issue of permission will be released.  The Judges made note of these points and ordered the case closed.
