It has been 2 months since the inter-district bus services have begun operating in TN. The news now is that ahead of deepavali festival interstate bus services would also resume operating as TN would be relaxing the restrictions. Except TN, all other neighbouring states have begun operating interstate bus services and this was as per the sources belonging to the TN government.
The sources explained about the resumption of interstate buses ahead of the deepavali season and it was due to the Covid-19 cases coming down in TN.
It was brought to light by a senior officer belonging to State Express Transport Corporation or SETC that no buses were being operated on the interstate route. He added that the buses have been plying till the state border. Point is that the passengers would have to cross the border to get local buses.
To allow the interstate bus services at the earliest, the omni bus operators have urged the TN government is known. According to Mr. A. Anbalagan, general secretary, All Omni Bus Owners Association, there were 300 buses plying on the interstate routes.
He pointed out that Karnataka buses were plying to Pondicherry and Kerala through Tamil Nadu. He was unhappy about the local buses that were not allowed to operate.
