Eco-bag competition

The TREE Foundation of India in association with the Australian Consulate General in Chennai is organizing a ‘paper bag’ competition to commemorate World Environment Day. School students may make eco friendly bags made out of bed sheets or old clothes or other recyclable material.

An official press release said, ‘Awards for the best bag would be given in two age categories: junior (12 years and below) and senior (13-18 years). The first prize would be worth Rs. 10,000; the second prize Rs. 5,000 and the third prize Rs. 3,000. All participants will receive certificates. Participants can enter either as individuals or in teams of up to three members, and have until 5 p.m. on July 5 to submit their entries. Bags and entry applications must be couriered to or dropped off at: TREE Foundation, # 5/25, Blue Beach Road, Neelankarai, Chennai – 600 115.’
