Those who had left Chennai to their native places for the festival of deepavali have started returning back and this led to heavy traffic on the GST Road near Perungalathur yesterday.
The GST Road saw many private buses lined up one after another and the traffic police could not handle the heavy traffic here. As a result, more traffic police were brought to manage the traffic.
The Chennai residents suffered as MTC did not operate many buses. It must be noted that the passengers who get down at Perungalathur normally would wait for the local trains to reach their destinations. It is known that the local trains have not yet started operating and due to this the passengers waited for the buses.
The presence of fewer MTC buses led many to travel by autos and call taxis. It was later revealed that when compared to last year the traffic was not that much in this year due to absence of schools etc.
