The Chief Minister of the State of Tamil Nadu, E. Palaniswamy has announced a public holiday today (Thursday, 26th November) for 13 districts including Chennai, Thiruvarur, Nagappattinam, Thiruvallur, and Chingleput due to the cyclone Nivar.
As there have been heavy downpours in the Chennai Metro City, with the excess water due to the downpour and inflow leading the Chembarambakkam reservoir filling to the brim and being let out, the Chief Minister visited the concerned areas for a personal inspection/assessment of the status.
After the inspection, the Chief Minister shared that due to the cyclone Nivar, he is declaring a public holiday for 13 districts - Chennai, Kanchipuram, Chingleput, Thiruvallur, Villupuram, Thanjavur, Mayiladuthurai, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Nagappattinam, Thiruvarur, Cuddalore, and Vellore – for tomorrow (Thursday, 26th November).
