If you are one among the motorists who don’t follow traffic rules in Chennai, then please be careful!!

The Chennai police have introduced zero tolerance traffic junctions and the main objective behind this was for effective implementation of the traffic rules. For not following the rules, the motorists would face stringent action. The new arrangement for the free traffic flow around the Thiruvanmiyur bus terminus has grabbed attention. This place was inspected by the Chennai police commissioner Mr. Mahesh Agarwal and he was accompanied by additional commissioner of police, Traffic Mr, Kannan.

Arterial junctions had many encroachments and these were removed and the street vendors were pushed into the market premises. It must be noted that the vehicles that were parked on the roads and blocked the traffic were also removed.

From Saturday, 12th December, zero tolerance junctions where additional police personnel would be deployed would be declared.

Traffic rules that must be followed strictly:
It is said that the motorists must follow all the traffic rules like adhering to signals, wearing helmets compulsorily, wearing seat belts etc. Mobile phones must be avoided while driving. Stop lines must be given importance and not to be violated.

Four important places in Chennai like Spencer’s Junction, Anna Arch, Madhavaram roundtana and Thiruvanmiyur bus terminus have been chosen in the first phase.

Important information is that in the first week just warnings/ advice would be given to the motorists who violate the traffic rules and from the second week onwards strict rules would be enforced.  This was as per Mr. Mahesh Agarwal. He added that this programme would be extended to other places only after perfect implementation of zero tolerance was done.

He concluded that the rules must be followed by each and every citizen of Chennai city for ensuring safety to others. Sense of safety would be created among the community.
