Cyber cafes to give out Voter ID cards soon

The office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) in Tamil Nadu and the Tamil Nadu Internet Centre Owners’ Association (TNICOA) will enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will enable people to register and receive their voter ID cards from internet cafes.
Speaking about this, CEO of Tamil Nadu Praveen Kumar said, ‘Such services are provided through e-seva kendras in some States. But, it is for the first time in the country that private Internet browsing centres are roped in for the purpose. It would take some time to roll out the facility, as the draft in this regard should be sent to the Election Commission in New Delhi for approval.’
