The New Year is fast approaching and it is common to see people having a blast at this of the year
The government has banned the celebrations for the New Year in restaurants, hotels, clubs, resorts etc in Chennai.
Now, the cottages and farmhouses along the ECR or east Coast Road in Chennai are most sought out places for the New Year eve revellers. Inspite of the warnings from the police department, bookings have been going on in full swing for these properties in the ECR in Chennai.
It must be taken into account that there are as many as 250 registered and unregistered beach houses, farmhouses and cottages between Kottivakkam and Muttukaadu and many farmhouses from Kovalam till the border of Chengalpet and Villupuram district. From Thiruvanmiyur to Mamallapuram along the ECR, there are atleast 45 registered hotels and resorts. This is under both Greater Chennai police and Chengalpet district police.
On 31st of December, a cottage located at Kannathur having a swimming pool that could house 20 persons could be rented for Rs 45000 for a period of 24 hours. Three of the four cottages on the property have been booked already and this was as per a representative. He spoke about how the rent does not include food or beverages, bonfire services along the sea shore could be had based on the demand. The cottage processed the necessary license and due to this the New Year celebrations could be facilitated.
It is common knowledge that the properties in the ECR in Chennai have been in huge demand for the New Year eve parties for many years. In this year, the restriction from the government by banning the New Year eve celebrations in the hotels, restaurants etc have increased the demand of the properties in ECR. Greater Chennai police was busy meeting the manager of resorts, farmhouses, hotels etc regarding unregistered property issues. It has been pointed out by the police that the ban would also be applicable to the unregistered properties too.
Assistant commissioner of police, Neelankarai, Mr. Visvewsvaraya spoke about how parties would not be allowed in the farmhouses, cottages etc.
