The continuation of the academic activities for the students in Chennai has become an issue now!!

The reason for that was due to many students testing Covid-19 positive in many colleges and in many universities. In addition to this, a new and highly contagious strain has been making many heads turn now.

Decision of re-opening of schools / colleges:
It must be taken into account that the emergence of new strain has created fears in the minds of the parents. The truth is that the parents as well as the academicians want the state government to conduct a detailed study before taking any decision about reopening the schools and colleges in Chennai/TN. Recently, a passenger who came to Chennai from London tested positive and this has set the alarming bells ringing.

It was brought out by a senior official belonging to the Higher Education Department that they have been getting many calls from the universities and college managements about the spread of the recent strain. The samples of the patient who came from London have been sent for further tests and it is too early to know about the issue. To know more about the virus strain, the authorities have been in touch with the health experts.

It must be noted that the school education department would have many doubts regarding the new mutant strain and hence they would also be in touch with the health experts or authorities etc.

The final year UG and PG students have been going to the colleges in Chennai and in TN now and hence the situation has been monitored closely now. The government must clarify about the continuation of the classes for the students now. This was mentioned by Mr. Pasupathy, Association of University Teachers or AUT. He added that till the lab results come the online classes must continue for the students.
