The weather is pleasant and the nights are nippy now in Chennai. This would continue even in the next week. The minimum temperatures would be around 20 degrees Celsius and this was according to some weathermen. The monsoon might not be over yet and rainfall is likely to begin over some parts of TN including Chennai towards the end of December. This could be due to the cyclonic circulation plus due to an associated trough.

Cloudy conditions:
It was mentioned by IMD that the sky condition would be cloudy in Chennai city. The maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 30 degrees Celsius and 20 degree Celsius respectively. This would be for the next 2 days. The weather would be dry till 27th December.

The isolated places in TN might get light rains on 28th and 29th December. On Friday, the temperature of 29.8 degrees was recorded in Nungambakkam and it was 29.5 degrees at Meenambakkam. It must be taken into note that before sun rise the temperature came down in both these places.

As per an official, the cold winds from the north and north-eastern parts of India had led to the drop in then temperatures now. He added that in the next week there would be rainfall (due to cyclonic circulation near the Andaman Sea and an associated trough extending to TN) in the coastal places of TN and in Chennai. Mr. Mahesh Palawat of Skymet Weather was of the view that there would be easterlies induced light to moderate rains by 28th or 29th December.
