To prepare the students for the board examinations, the school education department is planning to reopen the schools for the students belonging to the classes 10 and 12 in TN after the Pongal vacations. For getting the suggestions from the parents about the reopening of the schools, the school education department has asked all the schools to conduct meetings with the parents on or before 8th January 2021.

Mr. S. Kanappan, director, school education department spoke his heart out yesterday regarding the reopening of schools. He explained about how it was necessary to reopen the schools (for the sake of physical classes and prepare) for those students who would be writing the board examinations. He added that all the schools must conduct meetings with the parents on or before 8th of January. A circular was passed regarding this yesterday to the CEOs.

Information is that the school education department has also evolved the SOP or standard operating procedures for re-opening of the schools. Based on the views of the parents, a decision on the reopening of the schools would be taken.

It was mentioned by the principal V. Shanthi of T. Nagar based Vidyodaya Girls Higher Secondary School that though online classes were taken for the students but practice could be given only in the classrooms. There are some students who are hesitant to clear the doubts in the online classes and classrooms only could solve their doubts.

The need to have physical classes for the students who would write board examinations this year was brought out by Mr. G.J. Manohar, principal of Chetpet based MCC Higher Secondary School.

From 1st March, the practical classes would begin for the students of classes 10 and 12 in the CBSE schools are well known. Thirty days of practical training would be required to be given to the science group students. Point is that from 4th May the CBSE board examinations for the classes 10 and `12 would begin. As per Mr. Jayaprakash Gandhi, career consultant, the state board students also need to prepare for the board exams. He added that not scoring well in the board examinations would affect the careers of the students.
